Montecarlo is an amazing medieval town, renowned for its wine production, which is tightly entwined to the very history of the municipality. The incredible wines in Montecarlo are some of the oldest D.O.C. products and the pride of the land.
Its historical centre is surrounded by defensive walls, with three surviving gates: Porta Fiorentina, Porticciola, and Porta Nuova.
The town is famous for its magnificent fortress known as “Cerruglio”, built between the the 14th and 16th centuries, located on the highest point of Montecarlo’s hill.
