There are the sensory experiences of some great starred restaurants, the refined cuisine of the historic restaurants of the area, the traditional cuisine of the taverns, and the home cooking, of the daily festivals, to be shared between citizens and guests.
Summer is the perfect season for a digression from the art villages and an evening foray into the countryside, to share a good homemade dish in the village. An experience that cannot be missed in a “local” holiday.
The village festivals are a wealth of our territory, they enhance the typical dishes of our rich gastronomic tradition shared with a wider audience, an opportunity for socializing and aggregation, even on vacation.
In the plain of Lucca, taking part in a collective dinner, as proposed by the large tables of the village festivals, is also a way to get to know places off the tourist routes and get in touch with local traditions, to feel at home everywhere.

34th Tordello Festival – Segromigno in Monte, festival area. Il tordello, the undisputed prince of every restaurant’s first list. A generous traditional recipe, in the contemporary world a single dish with an important flavor, inevitable if you want to tell about knowing the cuisine of Lucca. Take some time, before dinner, to visit the park and the interiors of Villa Torrigiani.

Dolc e olive festival – Matraia, green area. Olives, small and versatile princesses of the Lucca cuisine, can be tasted in various preparations: in brine for an aperitif (with a marinade that is a secret kept and handed down over the centuries from family to family), in addition to moist to make more intriguing dishes, cold pressed in the form of EVO oil with a thousand shades to add flavor and health to every dish.

Before dinner, take a walk to the Lammari lakes. If you are in the company of Fido, he will appreciate it.

Porcini mushroom festival with polenta – Massa Macinaia, green area adjacent to the Monica Del Grande square. Longing for the mountains and maybe an invitation to visit the Garfagnana valleys for this festival in the heart of the Piana di Lucca.

Sagra de La Corte – Marlia, inside the market. The market and the rural court on the table. Fry from the courtyard and seasonal vegetables are the main dishes offered in this festival of festivals, inside the Marlia market.
It is not a typical example of the Romanesque architecture one would expect in Tuscany, but the church of Marlia, a splendid example of the neoclassical style is worth a visit before dinner.

Feast of Noah , Segromigno in Monte, festival area. We went on a pilgrimage “in Pizzorna” to San Bartolomeo and returned well satiated, the next day, towards the plain of Lucca. In Segromigno the stop was a must to thank the father of viticulture.
Before dinner, a visit to the Villa Torrigiani, a splendid stop on the way of the villas of Lucca.

Festival of Aquilea soup – the festival of festivals in the land of soup. The scents of the garden and wild herbs in the most traditional of Lucca’s festivals.
Before dinner, a walk with an aperitif along the river or, if planned, an excursion to the castellaccio of Aquilea.
